Dr. Conita Ip, PhD, RSW

Conita is a registered social worker in Alberta with a Bachelor of Social Science in Social Work and Master of Arts in Family Counselling and Family Education from Hong Kong. She had worked as a social worker at hospital (medical and palliative units) and family service center in Hong Kong for almost 10 years. In 2005, Conita moved to Calgary and later obtained her PhD in Social Work with specialization in immigrant mental health from University of Calgary in 2016.

Conita has had ample experience working with individuals and families in government, non-profit organization and private practice settings for the last twenty years. Having professional training and work experiences from both Hong Kong and Canada, Conita demonstrates cross-cultural sensitivity in relating to clients with diverse background. In her counselling practice, Conita adopts an eclectic approach by utilizing various psychotherapeutic approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Structural Family Therapy, Gottman Methods Couples Therapy, Mindfulness, and Strengths Perspective.

Inspired by her bumpy personal journey and also the perseverance of clients who choose to brave through the storm of life, her vocational goal is to support her clients to make positive changes, create psychological flexibility, and build resilience in the face of adversity. Alongside her clinical practice, Conita has been invited to deliver talks and workshops on mental wellness by NGOs and faith-based organizations. She has also frequently been interviewed on topics related to mental health on radio and TV.

黃葉潔貞博士 (Dr. Conita Ip)早年於香港中文大學取得社會工作學士及家庭輔導碩士學位。曾於香港任職醫院社工(內科及善終服務)及家庭服務中心社工近10年。2005 年移居卡加利,並於卡加利大學取得社會工作哲學博士學位,硏究移民人士精神健康。現為亞省註冊社工並於社區擔任輔導及精神健康教育工作。

Conita 擁有香港及加拿大社工及輔導專業訓練,並跨文化的豐富工作經驗20多年,善於運用及綜合不同學派的心理治療方法,如認知行為治療、接受與承諾治療、情緒取向治療、結構家庭治療、高特曼夫婦治療、靜觀、以及強項為本等方式幫助受導者。

其工作目標是協助個人或家庭在人生逆境中更深認識自己,作出正面的改變,增加心理彈性,建立持久的抗逆能力,以應付生活不同的挑戰。輔導工作以外,Conita 經常被社會服務機構或教會邀請主講精神健康講座及工作坊,並於電台及電視台接受訪問。

Derek So, MSW RSW

Derek So is a dedicated Registered Social Worker with over twenty years of experience, deeply committed to improving lives through expert counselling. He specializes in mental wellness, helping people adjust to illness, and strengthening family and couples relationships. Derek has a rich understanding of the various needs of individuals in Calgary. At Elevate Family Counseling and Wellness, he skillfully uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Gottman Methods Couples Therapy, and Attachment-based parenting to empower and uplift his clients.

Derek’s method is focused on the client, informed by understanding trauma, building on strengths, and aiming for clear goals. He ensures a safe and supportive environment that encourages growth, healing, and resilience. Derek considers it a privilege to walk alongside you on your path to renewal and hope, bringing about meaningful and positive change.

蘇璟珩是亞省註冊社工,擁有超過20年的社會服務經驗。他的專業領域包括在精神健康、疾病適應、教養孩童和夫婦關係等方面協助個人和家庭實現改善和進步。蘇璟珩曾在卡加利不同的機構擔任家庭輔導員,擅長使用不同的心理治療方法,如認知行為治療、敘述治療、高特曼夫婦治療,以及以相依理論為基礎的家長教育。他的輔導工作基於以個人為本、強項為本、目標為本和創傷知情法。

Danny Lam, MCMFT CCC

Danny Lam is a management executive turned counsellor. He switched at mid-course of his career to pursue a career of counselling, which is a new found goal for the second half of his life. Danny obtained a Master degree of Christian Marriage and Family Therapy at Bethel Bible Seminary in Hong Kong. He subsequently worked as a volunteer counsellor at the Bethel Pastoral Counselling Center where he had the opportunity to tackle a vast array of relational, mental, and emotional issues brought up by the clients. Due to Danny’s many years of working in China, he has unique strengths in working with people originating from China, allowing him to better understand mainland Chinese culture and enabling him to be more in-tune with people from China. He is also a certified Prepare/Enrich Counsellor and has rich experience in doing pre-marital counselling. Upon moving to Canada, he has obtained the qualification of Canada Certified Counsellor and is an active member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association.

林錦華原本從事行政管理的工作,他在事業生涯中途轉向心理輔導發展,以此作為人生下半場的新目標。林錦華於香港伯特利神學院修畢基督教家庭及婚姻治療的碩士課程,並於該神學院附屬的輔導中心擔任義務輔導員的工作。在職其間,他幫助求助者處理過種種的關係上、精神上、以及情緒上的問題。由於林錦華曾於中國工作多年,他熟悉國內的文化,故能有效地與來自國內的同胞溝通以及明白他們的處境,對於輔導的過程有莫大的幫助。林錦華亦取得Prepare/Enrich認證輔導員的資格,具有豐富的婚前輔導經驗。在移居加拿大之後,他取得加拿大認證輔導員的資格,現時為加拿大輔導及心理治療協會的會員。

Connie Yeung, BASC MA CCC

Connie is a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association, and a Counselling Therapist with the Association of Counselling Therapy of Alberta. After completing her Bachelor of Applied Science in Communications at Simon Fraser University and a Master of Arts in Counselling at the Providence Theological Seminary, Connie became a certified counsellor in 2019.

Connie has also completed certification as an ADHD professional and is a Play Therapist Intern. She is an active professional member of the Canadian Counselling & Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) and the Association of Counselling Therapy of Alberta (ACTA), and Canadian Association for Play Therapy (CAPT).

She is ethical, organized, enthusiastic and supports clients’ healing journeys through acknowledging and cultivating their value and sense of worth. Connie has worked with clients of diverse backgrounds. Her work is always led with an empathic and compassionate stance, valuing cultural differences with mindfulness of diversity. She applies culturally sensitive and integrative person-centered methods, as well as a strength-based therapeutic approach.

Connie also holds a vast amount of experience in working with children, adolescents, adults, and parents. She has worked in both non-profit organizations and private practice settings and has broad experiences in her mentorships and practicums. Her practicum experiences include working as a School Counsellor at an elementary school, and a Counselling Therapist at the Family Centre.

Her passions also include helping children and their families to reflect on their own abilities and strengths, developing resilience, and allowing them to cope well with life’s challenges. Moreover, Connie’s own personal experience with infertility extends her compassion to help people who are going through infertility and miscarriage.

In her practice, she is specialized in integrating approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)/ Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Play Therapy, Attachment Theory, and Mindfulness. She is open to utilizing different approaches and focuses on tailoring tools to fit each client’s unique needs.

楊鄭意德 (Connie Yeung)於溫哥華西門菲沙大學取得傳理系應用科學學士學位和於緬省Providence Theological Seminary 心理輔導碩士畢業。她是加拿大和亞省註冊心理輔導員和實習遊戲治療師。她曾在亞省家庭服務中心和小學實習。而服務對象包括小孩, 青少年和成人。在她的輔導中,她善於運用遊戲和藝術治療, 認知行為治療, 靜觀, 情緒取向治療, 婚前和婚後輔導和依附關係作心理治療。她能説流利英語, 廣東話和普通話。

Connie 曾於不同機構為兒童和青少年作輔導和作導師。她善於幫助父母和他們的孩子從練習中彼此學習了解和關懷, 從而建立良好關係。

Timothy Lee, MSW RSW

Timothy Lee (MSW RSW) is a Registered Social Worker practising in Calgary Alberta. Since 1998, he has been working as a Delegated Child Protection Caseworker at Children’s Services, Government of Alberta. In accordance with the Child and Family Enhancement Act, he serves children and families within specific time schedule into situations concerning child abuse and or neglect issues. He works with Caucasian, Asian, African, Arabic and Indigenous families.

In his practice, Timothy integrates Eastern philosophies and concepts in developing interventions with a holistic framework to keep children safe, protected and families stabilize. Timothy is conscious of how broader social, contextual and familial changes impact the children and parents. He believes in empowerment, Child Protection Caseworkers can be a force for social change, not just strict social control agents. Since 1998, Timothy has also been a news commentator at FM 947 Fairchild Radio to advocate, raise awareness, and address social issues.

Timothy completed his professional education in Hong Kong with a Diploma, Bachelor and Master of Social Sciences in Social Work, Post – Graduate Diploma in Business Management. Prior to settling down in Calgary, he worked as a social worker serving boat people, squatter settlement, and youth at risk in Hong Kong for over 10 years.

Timothy is committed to lifelong learning, he makes effort to keep learning and to update himself.
